Gene Louis Tipsword's Obituary
Gene Louis Tipsword, 92, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday (06-25-2022) at Lincolnshire Place, Decatur, Illinois.
Gene was born on August 14, 1929 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Louis Earl Tipsword and Anna Pearl (Swigart) Tipsword. He married Lena Mae Crawford in Decatur, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 14, 1997.
He was a carman for the Wabash railroad for 46 ½ years, retiring in 1991. One thing that Gene loved to do was play golf.
Gene was survived by his four children: Thomas G. Tipsword of Decatur, IL; Elizabeth A. Benedict of Delaware, Ohio; Mari L. Tipsword of Delaware, Ohio; and Julie K. Koricanac and husband Zoran of Schererville, Indiana; 6 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother Donald Tipsword.
A private family memorial service will be held at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery Decatur, IL.
