George A. Finch,'s Obituary
Decatur – George A. Finch, Jr., 83, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014 in his home with his family by his side.
George was born in Decatur, IL, the son of George A. and Emma P. (Durbin) Finch, Sr. A U.S. Navy veteran of Korean War, George was a member of Ss. James and Patrick Catholic Church and retired from A. E. Staley Manufacturing Co. George married F. Charline Duncan in Decatur and they enjoyed 62 years together.
Surviving is his wife Charline of Decatur; children: Clay M. (wife, Robin) Finch of Florida, Rick J. (wife, Meredith) Finch of Decatur, Trudy L. (husband, Michael) Jones of Dawson and Sharon A. (fiancé, John) Moyer of St. Louis, MO; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven M. Finch; one sister and two brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial celebrating his life will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at St. James Catholic Church, Rev. John Burnette, celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass in the church with burial to follow in Berea Cemetery, Niantic.
The family would like to thank the V. A., Fr. John Burnette of Ss. James and Patrick Church, and all who helped. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to donor’s choice.
