George Thomas Haubner Sr.'s Obituary
George Thomas Haubner, Sr., 82, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away September 23, 2023, in his home.
George was born in Decatur on December 6, 1940, the son of Lester and Helen (Cook) Haubner. He was a truck driver for Ryder for over 40 years, at one time earning the honor of being named “Driver of the Year.” When he wasn’t driving his semi, he enjoyed classic cars and racing. He married Dorothy Sinnard in 1964 in Boody, Illinois.
George is survived by his wife Dorothy; sons George T. (Rene) Haubner Jr. of Limestone, Bruce (Tanya) Haubner of Nashville, TN, and Brian (Tanya) Haubner of Decatur; brother Larry Haubner of Decatur; sisters Beverly Broadhacker of Indianapolis, IN, and Cleo (Clarence “Junior”) Ledford of St. Charles, MO; grandchildren Colton, Cerena, Makaela, William, Blake, Aidan, Hunter, and Leia; 4 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and uncle Ira Lant.
Service for George will be held on Friday, September 29, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12pm to 1pm and will be followed by a funeral service at 1pm. Burial in Graceland Cemetery will follow the service.
