Georgenna Rose Mataya's Obituary
Girard - Georgenna Rose Mataya “Georgie”, 64 of Girard, IL, passed away Friday, May 31st, 2024
Georgie was born on Tuesday, December 22nd, 1959, in Springfield, Il. The daughter of Michael Scattergood and Betty Mataya. A dental technician and gardener. Georgie was a firecracker. She loved Tyler Perry movies, court TV and listening to her headphones while she crafted or worked in the yard. She had a green thumb and grew ornamental gourds that she would turn into bird houses. She worked hard to make her yard beautiful and did the same for friends and family. She was always hunting for a bargain or something someone was about to throw out. She could fix anything and then put her own Georgie touch to it, turning each treasure into a timeless memory she would gift to anyone she held dear. That was her love language.
She was proceeded in death by her parents and brother, Mark Marta and her canine companion, Chompers.
Surviving are her children: Christy Oliphant, Trevor Baker, Tara(Adam) Baker, Tannor(Lisa) Baker and grandson: Theodore Baker; her sisters: Ramona Shusselle and Alicia Marta; nieces: Millicent(Trevor) Schussele and Cassandra Schussele and best friend Joan Conaway.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation services will be provided by Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory.
