Gerald Anderson's Obituary
Gerald R. Anderson, 80, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Gerald was born March 6, 1939, in Bloomington, IL, to John Wilton and June Louise (Wilkinson) Anderson. He married Mary Ann Pryde on March 28, 1956 in Taylorville, IL. She passed away August 18, 2014. Gerald was a member of Church of Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the YMCA. He was an avid runner.
He is survived by his two children, Lu Ann (Jeff) Nihiser of Decatur and Scott K. (Crystal) Anderson of Mt. Zion; six grandchildren, Kelli (Bob) Caplinger, Jade (Andy) Joseph of Sandy, OR and Trace Anderson of Tualatin, OR Aubrie (Mclain) Meador of Decatur, Aryn and Andrew; four great-grandchildren, Kaylin, Beau Jack, Kortney, Kayley; one great-great-granddaughter, Brinley; and one brother, James E. (Sandy) Anderson of Klamath Falls, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son, Tom Anderson; and his brother, John W. Anderson.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Gerald R. Anderson will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Church of Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday April 24, 2019 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association 8430 W. Bryn Mawr, Suite 800 Chicago, IL 60631.
