Gerald A. Petro's Obituary
DECATUR - Gerald Arthur Petro, 76, of Decatur, IL passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Jerry was born May 14, 1944 in Decatur, IL and was a graduate of Lakeview High School.
He made many friends throughout his tenure of over 10 years at Essex Wire and over 25 years at Aspen Ridge.
Jerry enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals baseball on the radio, on television, and in-person. He attended games at each of the three Busch Stadiums. One of the earliest visits took place during his teenage years when he earned two tickets as a reward from Herald & Review for his well-managed newspaper route.
He cherished time with loved ones, especially those who called him "Papaw", the smell of freshly-cut grass, and worshipping at Tabernacle Baptist Church where he was a member for over 25 years.
Jerry will be dearly missed by his children, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, sister, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, and friends.
Our family is grateful to know he is at peace in Heaven. We thank the caring medical staff and many people praying for our family. We love you all.
