Gerald Lee Sims' Obituary
Decatur-Gerald Lee Sims, 95, of Decatur, passed away 1:38 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Services to celebrate Gerald's life will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2012 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Entombment will be at the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Tori's Angel Foundation which helps children with life threatening medical conditions.
Gerald was born March 11, 1917 in Raglesville, Indiana, the son of Russell and Hattie (Sprague) Sims. He proudly served his country in the U.S Army during W.W. II. He was previously employed with A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company retiring in 1982. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and South Macon Masonic Lodge #452 A.F. & A.M. and past Worthy Patron Vivian Chapter of the O.E.S. He married Laura-Nell Ballard September 5, 1942 in Topeka, Kansas. She preceded him in death September 29, 2000.
He leaves behind his daughters Pam Major of Surprise, Arizona, Jan Bertini and husband Bob of Decatur, and Connie Ridgley and husband Bill of Panora, Iowa, six grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, wife, three sisters, and son-in-law Dave Major.
