Geraldine Adeline Ashby's Obituary
Decatur - Geraldine Adeline Ashby folded her earthly tent and went to her Heavenly mansion on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
Visitation will be Monday, August 26, 2024, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home from 4pm until the service time of 5pm. Burial will be on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, in Westlawn Cemetery, Hanson, KY, after a memorial service for Southern Indiana and Kentucky family and friends at 12:30pm at Providence Rural Community Church, Hanson, KY. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, Decatur, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.
Adeline was born to Robert and Dolores Williams on May 27, 1932. She married Franklin D. Ashby on June 2, 1951. Together they had three daughters - Becky Nalley (Rodney), Debbie, Cindy Holliday (Doc) and one son, Daniel Ashby (Tiffany). Her grandchildren are Tim Nalley, Matt Nalley (Kara), Josh Knight (Christy), Jeremy Knight (Jessica), Anthony Holliday (Chenene), Zac Ashby and Alexis Ashby. Adeline has ten great grandchildren: Skyler, Summer, Drake, River, Isaiah, Luke, JaQ, Tra, Freya and Fallon.
Adeline leaves behind one brother, Henry Williams, one sister, Diana McAfee (John), one sister-in-law, Jane Huddleston and a host of nieces and nephews.
Adeline loved being a wife, mother and homemaker. She was very active in her churches. She was a Vacation Bible School Director for many years, as well as Sunday School Superintendent. In 1966, she and Frank moved to Charlestown, IN. Adeline kept the books for her dad's Western Auto store. While in Charlestown, she made great friendships and wonderful memories with the folks at the First Assembly of God Church in New Albany, IN. The family returned to Decatur in 1976 and Adeline worked at ADM for ten years.
Adeline loved the Lord and singing and playing the bass fiddle. She was a choir member at the Foursquare Church. Music was always an important part of her life.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Yocks, nurse Monica and his staff, Dr. Kola, nurses Sidney and Brooke and the PCV staff, HSHS hospice care Gerry, Mary, James, Lindsey and staff for their professional love and genuine concern for our mother and family during her journey home.
