Geraldine C. Redding's Obituary
Decatur – Geraldine C. Redding, 86, of Decatur, passed away at 12:57 pm Saturday, April 10, 2010 at her residence with her family at her side.
Services to celebrate Geraldine’s life will be held at 12:00 pm noon, Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Cancer Care Specialists of Decatur or Christ United Methodist Church, 1503 North Summit Avenue, Decatur, Illinois. Geraldine was born May 15, 1923 in Riddott, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Lillie Meyers. Geraldine married Fredrick H. Redding in October 1965.
Geraldine retired from the Macon County Assessor’s Office after 38 years of service. Geraldine was a member of the Decatur Bowling Association for many years, winning the Ladies Single Championship in 1962 and the Team Handicap Championship in 1970. Geraldine was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where she was an active in United Methodist Woman and various other ministries of the church.
Surviving are her husband: Fred, son: Michael W. Queen (wife Debbie), daughter: Linda C. Harrod of Springfield, grandson: Jason A. Queen, and one great-grandchild: Alyssa, both of Oreana, two nieces, and one nephew.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, two grandsons, and several aunts and uncles.
