Gisela Erika Luckenbill's Obituary
Gisela Erika Luckenbill, of Huntsville, AL, passed away March 15, 2013 in Bad Kissingen, Germany.
Erika was born June 11, 1937 to Alfred and Emma Schmitt of Bad Kissingen. She was a graduate of the Catholic Order of the English Women’s Academy in Bad Kissingen. She married then Captain Robert Luckenbill, formerly of Decatur, on May 17, 1962. They had no children. Before settling in Huntsville, Alabama following Bob’s retirement, the couple maintained a nomadic Army life style, living in several foreign countries as well as the United States.
Erika was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Karin Rist of Huntsville, AL.
She leaves husband Robert, niece Dianne (Todd) Rist-Duclos of Chicago, nephew Bo (Maria and children) Rist of Chattanooga, TN, and brother-in-law Jack Rist. Members of Bob’s family include brothers, Larry of Decatur, Fred of Rock Island, and brother-in-law Ron Brunner, also of Decatur.
Cremation rites were accorded in Germany. Interment will take place Saturday, January 31, 2015 in the Star of Hope Mausoleum, Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL, following a 10:00 AM funeral service in the Star of Hope Mausoleum Chapel, Fr. John Burnette officiating.
