Glenn A. Dickey's Obituary
Decatur-Glenn A. Dickey, 77 of Decatur, passed away 5:40 pm Saturday, March 13, 2010 in his residence.
Services to celebrate Glenn's life will be 11:00 am Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Pastor Buzz Swett officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior services from 10 ' 11:00 am at the church. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Macon County Honor Guard and services will conclude with the 'Flight Home' ceremony. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting his family with these arrangements. Memorials donations may be directed to the Wesley United Methodist Church. Glenn was born in Paris, IL on April 5, 1932 the son of Howard E. and Mabel Ann (Mitchell) Dickey. After graduating high school he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Glenn and Edwina Duncan married on August 11, 1957 in Charleston, IL. Glenn was employed in sales and on the tropical fish farm at Standard Hatcheries for twenty-two years. He was then employed by Kmart as a janitor and retired as a patio manager after twenty years. Glenn was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the Gideon's.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of more than fifty years, Edwina; his sons Duncan (wife ' Tamara) Dickey of Decatur, Dennis (wife ' Nancy) Dickey of Collinsville, IL, and David A. Dickey of Decatur, his daughter Jennie (husband ' Lee) Armstrong of Virginia Beach, VA.; and his loving grandchildren Mathew Dickey, Erin Dickey, Megan Dickey, Arthur Armstrong, Joshua Armstrong, Conner Dickey, Kaitlin Dickey, and Austin Rayburn.
Glenn will be reunited in Heaven with his parents and his brother James and his sister Mary Fairchild.
