Glenn Henry Gillmar's Obituary
Glenn Henry Gillmar, 96, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 8:18 A.M. on Thursday (06-06-2024) in Eagle Ridge of Decatur.
Glenn was born on July 5, 1927, the son of Glenn Virgil Gillmar and Rose (Bruele) Gillmar. He married Leona “Peggy” Williams on November 8, 1946, in Decatur, IL. She preceded him in death on February 4, 2007.
Glenn served his country in the United States Navy. He was also a self-employed general contractor. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post #105. Glenn loved to travel to California and also enjoyed oil painting.
He is survived by his children: Gregg Henry Gillmar and wife Sue of Kuna, ID; Cathy Ellen Burrus and husband Jim of Decatur, IL; Larry Allen Gillmar and Leslie of Tylertown, MS; Carol Ann Gillmar of Decatur, IL; Bradley William Gillmar and wife Teresa “Teri” of Decatur, IL; and Alison Rose Irvin of Globe, AZ; fifteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, wife Peggy, two sons Jerry Douglas Gillmar and Glenn Randall Gillmar; grandson Ryan Speer and two sisters Betty Martin and Patricia Soard.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday (06-15-2024) at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home with visitation one hour before service time. The burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL.
