Glenn E. Johnson's Obituary
Latham-Glenn E. Johnson, 88, of Latham, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, August 04, 2010.
Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded. A private family service for Glenn will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the Latham Fire Department. Graceland/Fairlawn is assisting family with arrangements. Glenn was born September 23, 1921 in Nokomis, IL, the son of Milo and Dora Johnson. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a decorated WWII veteran and served in the 89th attack squadron, 3rd bomb group called the “Grim Reapers”. He attended Illinois Wesleyan University and The University of Wisconsin Madison School of Banking. Glenn retired from North Town Bank of Decatur where he was the Senior Vice President. He was a Master Mason in the Nokomis Lodge 456 A.F. & A.M. for 50 years and past president of the Nokomis Lions Club. Glenn enjoyed hunting, fishing, mechanics, bowling, carpentry, and was a big Chicago Bulls fan. He married Mary Ellen Kelley 1946 she preceded him in death on February 17, 1983.
He leaves behind his sons; Mark and wife Mary of Latham; Neal and wife Jill of Decatur; Eric and Wife Cindy of Decatur; grandson Dustin M. Johnson of Nashville,TN; granddaughter Leslie A. Johnson of Decatur; sister Eileen Toberman of Pana; and many nieces and nephews.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents, and wife Mary Ellen.
He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
