Gloria S. Rucker's Obituary
Decatur- Gloria S. Rucker, 79, of Decatur, IL joined her beloved husband in heaven on her birthday, April 11, 2015.
Gloria was born April 11, 1936 in the Philippines to Pedro and Constancia Sarmiento. She grew up in the Philippines where she met the love of her life Delmer D. Rucker a U.S. Marine and they were married March 28, 1960.
Gloria retired from Kelly’s Potato Chips. Her greatest joys were dancing and listening to music, trips to the riverboat, and most of all her family especially her grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her children, James Rucker of Decatur; Peggy (Mike) Myers of Oakley; Dennis (Stacey) of Martinez, GA; Donald (Vicki) of Morrison, TN; Diana (Rodney) Reynolds of Decatur; grandchildren, Laurel Rucker, Jared (Amy) Myers, Taylor Myers, Megan Rucker, Kelsey Rucker, Garrett Rucker, Haley Rucker, Morgan Rucker; great-grandchildren, Irelan, Ryne, Colten and Serenity; sisters, Elaine V. Sarmiento, Letty Villacorta, Conchita Sarmiento and Brother Among Sarmiento; special family members, Grace (Steve) Floyd, Willard (Dixie) Rucker, Ruth Ann (Ron) Covey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Delmer D. Rucker; sister, Lucy Sarmiento; and sister-in-law, Donna Akers.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dan Smith and Dr. Manohar Kola for their care of Gloria.
Funeral service to celebrate Gloria’s life will be 11 AM Wednesday April 15, 2015 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery in Long Creek Township. Memorials are suggested to the family.
