Rev. Gordon Jenkins' Obituary
Decatur-Rev. G. Gordon Jenkins, 89, of Decatur, peacefully went to his eternal reward at 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Fairhavens Christian Home with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate Gordon's life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Second Church of God, 2670 E. Division. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Interment with 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Church of God. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. Gordon was born October 6, 1920 in Herrick, the son of Elmer and Bessie (Bumgardner) Jenkins. He married Wilma Hilliard March 24, 1940. She preceded him in death March 15, 2008. Together, they have spent their lives serving the Lord and pastoring nine churches in the Midwest. He served as President of the Churches of God General Conference. He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, and servant of the Lord.
He leaves behind his sons; Pastor Randy and wife Esther of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Pastor Keith and wife Diane of Decatur, grandchildren; Bryan Jenkins and wife Kimberly, Sean Jenkins and wife Jessica, Jeremy Jenkins and wife Sherry, and Jason Jenkins and wife Christine all of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Janelle McCollum and husband Jeff, Amber Taylor and husband Chad, and Matthew Jenkins, all of Decatur, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He was greeted in Heaven by his parents, wife, daughter; Carol Ann Mayberry sons; Roger and Danny, and granddaughter; Cindy Jo Mayberry.
