Grant Spencer Staley's Obituary
Decatur-Grant Spencer Staley, 48, of Decatur, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 in his home.
Grant was born February 11, 1969 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Henry Mueller and Violet L. Staley. He graduated from Ball State University and was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity. Grant served as Vice President of the Staley Museum and was a film producer. He worked for Dick Clark Productions and Disney in Los Angeles, California. He was most proud of producing An American Vampire Story, the 1997 film starring Adam West and Carmen Electra. In addition to movies, films, and the visual arts, Grant loved animals. He was also, very philanthropic supporting several animal shelters, organizations, and charities.
Grant leaves behind his mother Violet of Decatur, brother Mark Staley and wife Julie of Springfield, beloved nephews Alex and Luke Staley of Springfield, fiance Amy Horrell of Peoria, and several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Grant was preceded in death by his father Henry and an infant sister.
Services to celebrate Grant’s life will be 11:00 AM Friday, June 23, 2017 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Thursday, June 22, 2017 and for one hour prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Decatur Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation or the Staley Museum.
