Gregory Hill's Obituary
Gregory Bruce Hill, 57, of Long Creek, IL left this world to be with Jesus , Saturday, November 11, 2017, in his home with his wife, children and “Gracie Mae” by his side.
Greg was born October 28, 1960, in Decatur, IL, the son of Bruce Hill and Sue (Yoder) Clendenen. He graduated from Mt. Zion High School and was a retied painter from the Painters Local #363 , Champaign , IL. Greg married Tina Yarnell, July 8, 2000 on Lake Shelbyville. Together they raised and are survived by four children, Jackie (Jeremy) Conour, Jason (friend-Taya) Hill, Stephanie (friend- Dustin) Flannigan, Melanie (Kent) Walker. Greg’s pride and joy was his grandchildren, Brooke, Dillan, Gaige, Kyle, Jayden, Lillian, Breyonna, Brenlee, Jack and Jase; four sisters and three brothers; and his newest companion, Gracie Mae.
Greg had a thirst for life and found joy in everything he did. There was no season in Greg’s life that was left untouched, from fishing, to mushroom hunting, deer, and waterfowl hunting and working in between. There was no greater joy in Greg’s life than spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed time with his Minnesota family, his Tuesday morning men’s study group and his “retiree’s” lunch group. Greg was a true inspiration to many and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Velasco, nurse Shanna Woodward, the Cancer Center Team and DMH Hospice.
A Celebration of Greg’s life will be Thursday, November 16, 2017, at 6 p.m. with the receiving of friends immediately after at Lampstand Church in Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery in Long Creek, IL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to DMH Cancer Care Institute Fund, Lampstand Church or Long Creek United Methodist Church. The family requests that casual attire be worn, “Camouflage optional”.
