Gregory S. Webb's Obituary
Gregory Steven Webb, 53, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in Mt. Zion, IL.
He was born on December 3, 1971, in Decatur, IL, a son of Richard Lee Webb and Patty Neeley Sileven.
Greg was a ‘crazy teenager who pulled himself together into a brilliant man’. From his earliest days, he loved to take things apart so he could figure out how they worked; on a good day, he would even put them back together for you. He turned this fascination into a career in computers, working for many years in the Information Technology field.
He loved the Lord and was a member of the First Christian Church in Moweaqua.
More than anything else, he loved his family. Greg especially enjoyed spending time with his daughters and going swimming. He also delighted in riding motorcycles and had most recently become interested in metalworking, even beginning the process of setting up a home forge.
The memory he leaves behind is that of a good son, wonderful brother, and loving father. A man who took part in the fine family tradition of stubbornness, who made it a point to finish what he started. He was always ready to help those who needed it, though he often struggled to accept help himself.
He is preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents; several aunts and uncles; and a few cousins, including his best friend Danny Trueblood.
Alongside his parents, those left to cherish his memory include: children, Ashley Webb, Tiffany Webb, and Ryan West; brother, Aaron (Toni) Webb of Texas; sisters, Kimberly (Brett) Etnier and Amanda (David) Waddell, both of Decatur; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and those who spent many hours giving Greg support when he needed it most: Paula Moore, Anita Clark, and Steve Woods.
The family of Greg Webb will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow directly afterward.
