Gudrun Maria Wilson's Obituary
Gudrun Maria Wilson, 79, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, in Decatur, IL. Born on March 11, 1947, in Ehringshausen, Germany, the daughter of Walter and Maria (Urban) Döerfler.
Gudrun was an incredibly hard worker. She earned her Certification in Bookkeeping in Wetzlar, Germany. She met Ronald Wilson while he served in the US Army in West Germany, marrying him in 1966 in Eatontown, NJ. The two would relocate to Illinois. After moving to the US, she started her career as an Office Manager at Zales, which she held for over 8 years. She also served as the office manager for Dr. David Barnes for 8 years before working as a bookkeeper and assistant manager at Timber Coves Apartments until 1998. She also worked as office manager for Sanner & Associates. Gudrun will be remembered as a friendly, kind, productive, and honest person.
Gudrun is survived by William “Bill” Munson, her dear friend and companion for over 35 years; two children: Brian (Marlane) Wilson and Leslie (significant other, Tim Jones) McGonigle; three grandchildren: Taylor Wilson, Tiffany Wilson, and Rylee McGonigle; niece, Iris (Maik) Beck; and cousin, Ulrick (Karlheinz) Mayr.
Gudrun was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Theodora “Doris” Jersch and Helene Stoll; and her three boxer dogs: Duran, Sir Mick, and Mick.
It was Gudrun’s wish to be cremated and no services will be held at this time. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is providing cremation services.
