Guy M. Assanow's Obituary
Guy M. Assanow, 68, passed away August 16, 2022 at Moweaqua Rehabilitation and Health Center.
Guy was born in Decatur, Illinois on September 16, 1953, the son of Midat “Tony” and Edna (Staley) Assanow. He worked as a janitor. In his free time he enjoyed reading, spelling, math, and playing checkers. He was a devoted Cub fan and loved watching them whenever he could. He participated in Special Olympics, earning the distinction of “Master Bowler.”
Guy is survived by sisters Marie Dresback and Gloria Coleman; nieces April Assanow, Dawn jones, Toni Sloan, Elizabeth Assanow; and nephews Zack Assanow, Richard Hartman, Bob Gentry, and Nick Staggs. He was preceded in death by sisters Rose Mary Assanow Hays and Lillian Compton and one infant brother.
A graveside service for Guy will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, August 25 in Fairlawn Cemetery. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
