Gwendolyn Cox's Obituary
Gwendolyn Cox, 60, of Decatur, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Gwendolyn was born in Decatur on December 20, 1960, the daughter of Gus and Lee Ella (Shaw) Cox Jr. She married Albert Currie. She was a homemaker who enjoyed track, playing slot machines, traveling, fishing, and sales work.
Gwendolyn is survived by her husband; children Albert L. (Terronjelia Martin) Cox and Dewayne Cox; siblings Evelyn Harris, Cecilia Shaw, Vincent Cox, Lisa Callaway, and Angela “GeGe” Carey; grandchildren Lakyla Martin and Albert Martin; and nieces and nephews Keith Shaw, Roslyn Wicks, Kenya Wicks, Sheneka Manley, Christopher Shaw, Marques Ware, Darien Callaway, Kylie Cox, Kayla Cox, Dan’Nayshia Knight, Adwoah Nanaserwah Fosu, Donita Harris, and Renee Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Oletha M. Cox, and sister Celestine Wicks.
Funeral service for Gwendolyn will be held at 11am on Thursday, November 18 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10-11am prior to the service. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
