Harlan E. Powell's Obituary
Harlan E. Powell Jr., 61, of Decatur, passed away on January 14, 2016, in his own home with his loving daughter by his side.
Harlan was born on July 8, 1954, in Springfield, IL, the son of Harlan Eugene Powell Sr. and Rosemary (Peace) Jackson. He worked at ADM as an electrician for many years. He enjoyed in his early years, weight lifting, and was a rebel. He took great pride in fixing up houses and selling them. He also enjoyed westerns and was an avid Bears fan! He was dearly loved by all of his family and will be greatly missed.
Harlan leaves behind his daughter, Jennifer Poor (Alex Grove) of Decatur, IL; parents, Harlan (Mary) Powell of Springfield, Rosemary Jackson of Springfield; brother, Danny Powell of Springfield, IL; sisters, Sheila Wolper of Springfield, Bobby Wright of Springfield, Daisy Powell of Popler, MO, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and his long lost canine friend, “Freckles”.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Butch Powell.
The family will be hosting a memorial gathering at 2pm, Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Camp Wilson Foursquare Gospel Church, 7570 West Main St., Decatur, IL 62522. They will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family, C/O Jennifer Poor.
