For years, I saw Bud as my wife's younger brother. But in reality, he was far more than that. First and foremost, he was a father who loved – and continues to love – his son, Deacon. He was also a son, a brother, an uncle, and a brother-in-law. He wasn't perfect, but who among us is? Bud's life ended too soon, but that doesn't mean the memories of good times, good conversations and good laughs go, too. Let Bud live on in those.
Dear Jodi and Carla – how very sad, my heart goes out to you both. What fond memories I have of the growing up years in Bedford, would love to sit and just catch up again. Know my thoughts and prayers are with all of you
To all of Bud's family, we are truly sadden by this loss of a very special person. Even though it might be a spell between visits we could just start like it was yesterday. Bud always was complimentary to our yard and flowers. We never heard an unkind word from his tongue. He did have that wonderful grin of a smile he would always greet you with, he was always appreciative for any little thing you had done for him. A very hard worker and knew the beauty of nature. May he be walking through the gardens of heaven with a song in his heart. Our prayers are with you Deacon and family, may God comfort you as your walk this heavy rough road. Deacon, I worked for your dad for 10 yrs. If you turn out to be half the man he was you will be special as he was. He was not only my boss but a good friend.I will miss his as we all will……Charlie Simpson.

Deacon, I never had the honor of meeting you, but I worked with your dad at ADM. He was such a doting father; he always talked about you with such love and care in his voice. I remember when you started living with your dad; he was so excited about that new chapter in both of your lives. Although I did not know your dad very well, I would consider him a friend, and a man that always had a kind word and a contagious smile on his face. I am so very sorry for your loss. Keep your memories close, always know he loved you and may he rest in peace.
Bud was my boss at the Country Club of Decatur while I worked there as a greenskeeper in the Summers of 97' and 98' and the Fall of 99'. I learned so much about turf management while working there and it was one of the most enjoyable jobs I ever had. That was due in large part to Bud. He was a very generous man and a joy to work for. I will never forget my time there and all the great times I had working with Bud and the rest of the crew. Bud, you will be greatly missed.
Deacon, I am so, so sorry for your loss. I too have lost my father but certainly not at your age nor was my father as young as yours. I still think of that time I saw you and your dad in the restaurant. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Please know I care about you and always will.
