Harriett B Streaty's Obituary
Harriett B. Streaty, 78, of Decatur, passed away peacefully at Lincolnshire Memory Care Unit on Sunday, February 28, 2016.
Harriett was born March 1, 1937 in Lincoln, Illinois, the daughter of John and Ethel (Brummel) Williamson. She attended Decatur Public schools and graduated from Stephen Decatur High in 1955. She was a member of Ss. James & Patrick Parish. She married Charles “Chuck” Streaty on May 2, 1975. They shared 40 wonderful years together.
Harriett worked at General Electric until they closed. She later worked at Lincoln Development center and Taylor Pharmacal (Akorn). She was an accomplished pianist and especially enjoyed afternoon jazz at LSB with friends. She loved to dance and was a kind, compassionate person to everyone she met.
She is survived by her husband, Chuck; her step-son, Sean (Amy) Streaty; her two grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon; one brother, Donald (Mary) Williamson; one sister, Gertrude (James) Baltimore and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, John, Harold, Ronald, Walter and George Williamson; two sisters, Iona Bowles and Ruth Gordan.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Decatur Memorial Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, Heartland and McKinley Court for their genuine caring and kindness for the last several years. They would also like to thank the staff at Lincolnshire Place for their aid and comfort during these last several months.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. John Burnette as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday before the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
