Harvey L. Boomer's Obituary
Harvey L. Boomer, 92, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 in McKinley Court.
Harvey was born August 25, 1921 in Danville, IL, the son of Jesse and Laura (Bales) Boomer. He graduated from Decatur High School, and joined and served proudly in the United States Air Force. He was inducted in the Old Timer’s Club in Indianapolis for being a 50 year member at a company that was Firestone and Goodyear. He had a strong passion for photography and took pictures of airplanes, trucks, and racing pictures that he submitted to the newspapers. He loved watching Nascar, and was a Chicago Cubs and Bulls fan. He married Lola H. McQuality on May 1, 1948 in Decatur. She preceded him in death on April 13, 2007.
Harvey leaves behind his stepsons, Dick (Betty) McQuality of Decatur; Ed (Ilene) McQuality of Decatur; brother, Pat (Judy) Boomer of Bethany; step grandchildren, Tim, Mike, Karyn, Todd, Pam, and Brian; 17 step great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola; parents; two brothers; and one sister.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the nurses of the North Hall at McKinley Court, and to Harvey’s good friend, Mark Whitehead.
Services to celebrate Harvey’s life will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2013 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Harvey may be made to First Christian Church.
