Heidi Caligiuri's Obituary
Heidi Jo Pygman Caligiuri of Decatur, Illinois died October 6th at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL following several years of illness.
Heidi was born March 14, 1957 in Decatur, where she lived while her father, Richard Maxwell Pygman, was a student at James Millikin University after four years in the U.S. Air Force. There followed family moves to several states and finally back to Decatur where she has lived since 2007. Heidi attended high school in Needham MA. She loved horses and worked as a stable manager and then as a Nanny prior to receiving CNA training in Connecticut, where she worked as a CNA nurse in a nursing home and as a private duty CNA nurse until ill health intervened. She and Jon A. Caligiuri of Connecticut were divorced after eight years of marriage. Heidi loved her family, her friends, her cats, reading and television. Friends will remember her compassionate nature, her artistic abilities, her great sense of humor, her love of music, especially Rock & Roll, Praise and Gospel. Religion was an important part of her life, especially in her later years. Heidi was baptized in the Methodist Church in infancy, then later in the Pentecostal Church.
Heidi is survived by her mother, Joyce Clark Cunningham, sister April Pygman Stirling (James), nieces Madeleine Grace Stirling, Therese Eilene Stirling, Clara Rose Stirling, and Elsie Bradley Stirling of Bethany, CT, her fiancé Steven A. Booth, her friend and caregiver Jeffrey Clark of Decatur, Cousins Melena Pygman of Birmingham, MI, and Tory Richie Spurgin of Missouri, Uncle Edward Heckman of Decatur, and cousins formerly of Decatur Edward Clark of Boerne, TX, Carrie and Shelly Clark of Orangevale, CA.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Maxwell Pygman, grandparents Donald O. Pygman and Doris Wasson Heckman of Decatur, Millard Wilson Clark and Emma Lawson Clark, formerly of Decatur, Uncle Donald Joseph Pygman, Cousin Mark Wilson Clark of Decatur, Aunt Judith Clark Richie of Mountain Grove, MO, Great Uncle Kenneth Eugene Clark and Great Aunt Betty Thompson Clark of Decatur.
Heidi was cremated at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur, and will be interred in Bethany, CT following a family memorial celebration of her life.
