Helen Ruth Collins' Obituary
Decatur – Helen Ruth Collins (Bartley), 90, died on August 5, 2009, Wednesday, 3 days short of her 91 Birthday at Delmar Gardens Nursing Home in O’Fallon, MO. Helen said she was tired and went to sleep.
Services to celebrate Helen’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, August 10, 2009 at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services at the church. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting Helen’s family with these arrangements. Entombment with the “Flight Home” Ceremony will be at the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery. Should you wish to make a donation in Helen’s name, those may be sent to the First United Methodist Church, 201 West North Street, Decatur, IL. Helen was born August 8, 1918 in Iuka, Illinois, the daughter of Nolan and Grace (Chandler) Bartley. She met the love of her life “Bill”, Charles Collins and they were married on June 6, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death on December 25, 2003. They had 61 wonderful years together. Helen moved to Decatur in 1936 from Iuka, IL and went to work at the Harald and Review. Helen was employed at Home Saving and Loan. She was the oldest of 6 children of Grace and Nolan Bartley.
She will be sadly missed by her two sisters: Roberta Williams of O’Fallon, MO and Debbie Ross of Manchester, MO and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
