Helen LaVerne Denning's Obituary
Decatur-Helen LaVerne Denning, 87, of Decatur, left this world Sunday, October 20, 2013 to join her parents, husband Robert, grandson Shane Henry, sister Marie Holt, and many others in her home with her family by her side.
She was born October 22, 1925 in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of Shirley and Eulah (Bishop) Howell. She was a devoted wife and homemaker. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, and was one heck of a cook. She married George R. “Bob” Denning April 9, 1945 in Evansville, Indiana. He preceded her in death June 27, 2002.
She leaves behind her daughters Linda Denning and Susan Henry both of Decatur, grandchildren Chawn, Chad , Joshua, Casey, and Kelsey, and four great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed.
Graveside services to celebrate Helen’s life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in Graceland Cemetery, with Pastor Russell J. Weise officiating. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
