Helen Marie Edwards' Obituary
Decatur-Helen Marie (Knotts) Edwards, 81, of Decatur, passed away at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Mason Point in Sullivan.
Helen was born December 10, 1933 in Decatur, Illinois, the youngest of twenty-one children to John and Sally (Vest) Knotts. She worked various jobs throughout Decatur, lastly she was employed in housekeeping at Millikin University until her illness. She loved her job and the kids she meet throughout the years. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, and flea markets. She married the love of her life Jackie W. Edwards Sr. June 13, 1953 from this union five children were born Jackie Jr., Vickie, Danny, Jeffrey, and Randy. He preceded her in death December 6, 1972.
Helen leaves to cherish her memory her sons Jackie W. Edwards Jr. (Amy) of Shelbyville, Danny Edwards of Decatur, Jeffrey Edwards (Rose) of San Antonio, Texas, Randy Edwards (Jeanette) of Baytown, Texas, daughter Vickie Poole of Middletown, sister Mary Lambert of Gibson City, grandchildren Terra Robinson (Tony), Chris Edwards (Chrissie), Jackalynn and Jaxon Edwards, Jason Edwards (Pam), Michael (Vivian), Tyler (Kristee), Brittney (David)Lauren , Chad Edwards, Davin Lloyd, Amber Maxwell, Josh Edwards (Devan) great-grandchildren Brielle, Benjamin, Henry, Harper, Jaycee, Jason Jr., Ethan, Haley, Ashlynn, Andreas, Kirstin Rose, Andrew, Amanda, Alexis, Autumn Aleignna, Rylan, and Bently, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, nineteen siblings, and son-in-law Paul Poole.
The family would like to thank the staff of 3rd Annex of Mason Point and the staff at Harbor Light Hospice Care.
Services to celebrate Helen’s life will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2015 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at Point Pleasant Cemetery in Long Creek. Memorials are suggested to Harbor Light Hospice, Mason Point or the Alzheimer’s Association.
