Helen L. Gillespey's Obituary
Decatur- Helen L. Gillespey, 94, of Decatur, passed away Friday, November 14, 2014 in Fair Havens Christian Home.
A celebration of her life will be 1:00pm Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, 2091 N. Oakland Ave., Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 11:00am -1:00pm Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene.
Helen was born September 14, 1920 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Kollak) Luka. She married Marion “Tince” Gillespey in 1950. Marion preceded her in death on April 10, 1989. They shared 39 wonderful years together. Helen was known as a mother to the motherless, raising seven brothers and sisters and then later adopting two daughters, caregiver, faithful wife, loving, nurturing, prayer warrior and talented seamstress. Helen was thought of to her children as the mom who made all holidays special. She was a faithful member of the First Church of the Nazarene for many years.
Helen is survived by her daughters Donna Gillespey-Earl, and her husband Paul Hot Springs Village, AR., Joyce Gillespey-Allen and her husband David of Paducah, KY.; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters Clara Luka-Barr of Decatur, Mary (Luka)-Marzinzik and her husband George of Springfield,IL., Lorraine Ananias Wiggins of Decatur, IL., Janet Luka- Rolofson and her husband G.A., Forsyth, IL.; brothers Henry Luka and his wife Sue of Louisville, KY., Freddy Ananias and his wife Arlene of Decatur, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion “Tince” Gillespey; and her parents; three sisters and three brothers.
