Helen F. Hancock's Obituary
Decatur-Helen F. Hancock, 84, of Decatur passed away peacefully 11:00 am Tuesday, October 27, 2009 with her family at her side at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services to celebrate Helen’s life will be 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, 201 W. North St. in Decatur with Pastor Kathy King-Nobles officiating. A celebration gathering will follow in Fellowship Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church. Helen was born on May 15, 1925 in Champaign county the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth (Bailey) Heyer. She married Melvin W. Hancock on May 20, 1944 in Evanston, IL. Melvin preceded her in death on April 5, 1999. Helen was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, she was a past member of the Decatur Camera Club, and a volunteer of the Rock Springs Conservation District.
Fond memories of Helen will be cherished by her children, James and Paula Hancock of Indianapolis, IN, Donald and Teresa Hancock of St. Louis, MO, Janet and Christopher Oldweiler of Mt. Zion, IL and grandchildren Anne Oldweiler and Michael Oldweiler.
Helen will be reunited in Heaven with her husband Mel, parents, brothers, Wayne and Glenn, and sister, Lois.
Helen lived her life as a testament to her love for her husband, children, grandchildren, church and many friends. She devoted her life to her church and her Lord Jesus.
