I used to stop by June’s lovely home on Green Lake as often as I could. She always welcomed me with warmth and a smile, ready to share stories and memories. She loved showing me pictures of her sons and grandchildren—she was so proud of them. Her face would light up as she talked about them, and she especially loved showing me the beautiful paintings one of her children had done. And of course there were stories about Jeff and his baseball career.
We talked about the many trips she had taken—some quite memorable! And of course, every visit included hearing about her beloved pets: Libby, her black and white Cocker Spaniel, and Fritz, the Vizsla. They brought her so much joy.
June deeply loved her country. She was a proud listener of Rush Limbaugh—as anyone who saw her favorite t-shirt could tell you! She was also a long-time, faithful member of Restore Our Constitution in Decatur, attending meetings regularly until her health no longer allowed it. At our last meeting, we shared a moment in her memory and displayed her picture so everyone could take a moment to remember the sweet friend we all loved.
I know June is with her Maker now—healthy, happy, and as pretty as ever. Though we grieve our loss, we can find peace in knowing that Jesus was the love of her life. I hope He’s your best friend too—He is mine. And because of that, I know I’ll see her again one day.
