Helen B. Kobosky's Obituary
Helen Bertha Kobosky, 92, of Decatur, formerly of Danville, IL, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019, in her home.
Helen was born July 31, 1926, in Danville, IL to James and Iva (Lappin) Jameson. She married Eugene Kobosky on March 19, 1944 in Danville, IL. He passed away October 20, 1993. Helen worked at the Decatur Clinic as the switchboard operator. She continued to attend and enjoy the annual Christmas party of former employees after it closed.
Helen loved to read, garden and take long walks. Her main focus for her energy was, however, her family, her pride and joy. She loved little children so the grandchildren and great grandchildren provided many wonderful memories for her. Her neighbors, friends and family looked forward to her pumpkin bread, cole slaw and barbequed pork on a bun. She would make extra batches for family to take home.
She lived her best life each day with a sense of humor, realism and acceptance. Her strength to deal with life situations as they arose will serve as an example to those who knew her. She will be missed.
She is survived by her two daughters, Judy (Geoff) Nelson of Waterloo, Ontario and Jean Baugh of Denver, Colorado; three grandchildren, Nicole (Harald Kliems) Nelson, Dan (Elisa) Nelson and Laura (Lamont) Gittens; and five great-grandchildren, Keiran and Maya Nelson, Morgan, Winston and Harley Gittens.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her four siblings, Nick, Bill, Dorothy and Mary.
Visitation to celebrate the life of Helen Kobosky will be 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
