Helen Perozzo's Obituary
Helen Perozzo, 88, of Decatur passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 in her home with her family at her side.
Helen was born March 29, 1924 in Wood River, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Barci) Pop. She worked at an ammunition plant in Illiopolis, IL during WWII. After the war, she worked at Frank’s Food Fair in Taylorville, IL, and then later as a coal miner at Peabody #10 in Pawnee, IL until 1985. She married John B. Perozzo on October 14, 1945 in Taylorville, IL. He preceded her in death in February 25, 2005.
Helen leaves behind her sons, Robert (Nancy) Perozzo of Kincaid, IL; John (Louise) Wayne of Kincaid, IL; daughters, Sheila Foster of Decatur; Mary Ann Perozzo-Scott of Elkins, WV; Marcia (Randy) Beaman of Taylorville, IL; sister, Margaret (Albert) Puccetti; 17 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; both parents; brothers, Joe Pop; Steve Pop; Ignatius “Iggy” Pop; sisters, Katherine Verarti; Ann Mayer; and granddaughter, Sheri Dailey.
Per Helen’s wishes cremation services will be provided by Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory. There will be no services. Memorial contributions may be directed to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois, the nurses of St. John’s Hospice, and to the nurses on the Sixth Floor of St. Mary’s Hospital.
