Helen Louise Rainey's Obituary
Decatur-Helen L. “Mickey” Rainey, 79, of Decatur, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2009 in St. Mary’s Hospital with her family by her side.
Services to celebrate Helen’s life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Baptist Bible Church, 550 S. Jackson, with Dr. Ray A. Clark officiating.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment with Flight Home Ceremony will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Helen was born January 6, 1930 in Decatur the daughter of Walter and Mary Anna (Anderson) Simpson. Helen married John Rainey in 1942 in Decatur. She was employed for many years at Illinois Power Company. She was an active, dedicated, founding member of the Baptist Bible Church where she was a Sunday school teacher.
She leaves behind her son; Vola of Decatur, grandchildren; Lori Ann Butler of Decatur, Anthony Jarrett of Chicago, Shequita Rainey of Dallas, Texas, and Vola Rainey, Jr. of Decatur, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, sisters; Katherline Freeman and Christina Redman of Decatur, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents, husband John, brothers; Thomas, Jesse, Wilbur, and Paul, and sister; Hazel.
The Rainey family would like to give a special thanks to St. Mary’s Hospital, Dr. DiMondo, and Dr. Collins for the care given to Helen.
