Helen Mae Stanley's Obituary
Helen Mae (Johnson) Stanley, 94, of Decatur, IL, passed away November 10, 2014, at Eastern Star Home in Macon.
Helen was born September 26, 1920 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of John and Lily (Davis) Johnson. She married Wayne Stanley, also of Decatur, on March 15, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. Helen was a consummate caregiver, beginning her career as a hospital aide and dedicating herself full time as a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her son Larry Stanley and wife Martha of Decatur; daughter H. Louise Bailey of Decatur; son Ronald Stanley and wife Jan of Sonoma, CA; daughter Pamela Stanley; and son Timothy Stanley and wife Darcy of Greenville, SC; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; 1 brother and 3 sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne A. Stanley; her parents; 1 sister and 2 brothers; son-in-law Douglas Bailey; and great grandson Perrin Stanley.
Known for her gentle, kind and loving spirit, Helen’s life was marked by steadfast devotion to her husband and family. She especially enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her family members scattered across the country. Helen was an amazing example: committed, consistent and constructive, always seeing the best in those she loved.
Funeral services will be 10am Friday, November 14, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 5-7 pm.
