Helen H. “Penny” (Hurley) Turner, 87, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, formerly of Decatur, passed away December 1, 2010 at her home in Colorado Springs, CO.
Per her wishes cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial services to celebrate Helen's life will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Gentle Care House; 1333 West Darby Street; Colorado Springs, CO 80907. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. Mrs. Turner was born May 28, 1923 in Decatur, IL to David Madison and Martha O. (Allen) Hurley. She married Oscar O. Turner on March 29, 1941. Mrs. Turner was a homemaker who enjoyed music, reading and creative writing. She specialized in poetry and was a published poet.
She leaves behind her daughters; Kathy L. Grigsby of Decatur and Tracey Ellmers of Colorado Springs, CO.
She was preceded in death be her parents, husband, brother, and sister.
