Herbert Dennis Hinrichs' Obituary
Decatur-Herbert Dennis Hinrichs, 72, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Dennis was born December 3, 1944 in Vandalia, Illinois, the son of Herbert C. and Roberta (Moeller) Hinrichs. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Dennis retired from Firestone with over forty years of service. He enjoyed Ford Mustangs, all sports, bowling, and NASCAR especially Matt Kenseth. Dennis married Susan Stone October 15, 1993. They shared over thirty-seven years together.
Dennis leaves behind his wife Susan of Decatur, daughter Alissa (Christopher) Henkel of Decatur, grandchildren Gabriella and Cordelia Henkel of Decatur, sister-in-law Heidi Hinrichs of Decatur, niece Kristi Stone (Melissa) of Decatur, great-niece Maddi Stone-McClunney, and many special cousins and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wayne Hinrichs, and beloved dogs Fizz and Cubby.
Services to celebrate Dennis’ life will be 10:00 AM Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with the “Flight Home” Ceremony to conclude the services. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday, April 14, 2017 in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be at Point Pleasant Cemetery in Long Creek. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project. Family requests casual attire.
