Herman Lyle Hale's Obituary
Herman Lyle Hale passed away October 30, 2017, peacefully in his home in Erie Pennsylvania. He was 90 years of age.
Herman was born October 14, 1927, in Decatur, Illinois to Mabel and George Hale. His wife Dorothy Hale, brother Charles Neil Hale, sisters Shirley Finley, Margarette Wood, and Helen Hale preceded him in death. One brother Eugene Hale survived him but passed in 2021. Herman was known by his middle name Lyle.
His daughter Cheri (Jeff) Lang, granddaughter Rachel McBride, step grandchildren Alex (Shelby) Lang, Ashley Wiebenga and 7 step great-grandchildren survive him.
Lyle served his country in the United States Navy. He worked at PPG Industries in Mt. Zion Illinois and retired from there in 1990. His hobbies were fishing and camping and was active at Mt. Calvary Lutheran church where he was a member. In his later years he enjoyed driving for Decatur Auto Auction and volunteering at LSA Resale. After Dorothy’s death in 2016 he moved to Erie to live near his daughter.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday (10-08-2022) at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home with visitation from 9:30 until service time.
