Hester Aleta Schmidt's Obituary
Decatur-Hester Aleta Schmidt, 85, of Decatur, passed away at 7:54 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
Hester was born February 21, 1929 in Fancher, Illinois, the daughter of Paul and Hortense (Jackson) Morrison. She was previously employed with General Electric and Borg Warner. After retirement she went to work at Van Zetti Bakery and then the Early Riser Café. She loved to help people and would help anyone in need. She married Gene C. Schmidt January 18, 1952. He preceded her in death December 22, 1981.
She leaves behind her son Brad Schmidt of Decatur, daughter Lesly Whitlow of Chicago, grandchildren Heidi Wirey and husband Jace of Decatur, and Dennis and Joseph Whitlow of Chicago, and great-grandchildren Caleigh, Tristan, and Holden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Hanley Morrison, and son Blain Schmidt.
Graveside services to celebrate Hester’s life will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 in Graceland Cemetery.
