Horace F. Kepler's Obituary
Decatur-Horace F. “Pop” Kepler, 88, of Decatur, passed away July 8, 2011 at his home with his loving family at his side.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Pop will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Adams-Gordon Cemetery in Moweaqua, Illinois, interment with military honors following service.
Pop was born February 10, 1923 in Bloomington, Illinois the son of Froebel and Carrie (McKinney) Kepler. After graduating from high school, Horace served his country proudly in the U.S Air Force during WWII where he was a P.O.W after being shot down over France. After being discharged in 1945 he worked as a pipe fitter for Staley’s Manufacturing Company, he was a member of the American Legion #1181 in Cisco, Illinois. He married Hazel (Lewis) Knierim, January 19, 1973.
He is survived by his wife, sons; James Kepler and wife Debbie of Vero Beach, FL. and Everett Kepler of Springe, Germany, daughter; Betty Skinner of Wichita, KS, step-son Robert Knierim and wife Joni of Decatur, step-daughter; June Bunning also of Decatur, twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Betty Ruth, one son, two brothers, one sister, and one son-in-law.
