Horace "Sonny" M. Forker's Obituary
Decatur-Horace “Sonny” M. Forker III, 84, of Decatur, passed away Friday, January 15, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services to Celebrate Horace’s life will be 11am Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services, burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to the Homeward Bound Animal Shelter.
Horace was born January 20, 1930 in Trenton, NJ., the son of Horace M. Forker Jr. and Pearl (Farley ) Forker. Horace proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Horace was also a member of the Knights of Phythians. Horace was an entrepreneur of real-estate and recycling. Horace enjoyed fishing, antiquing, and loved family gatherings.
He is survived by his niece LoriLee “Zur” DeClerck of Decatur, son Horace (Lyn) Forker IV of FL; daughters, Billie (Richard) Merritt of PA, Betty (Luis) Hernandez of NJ, Barbra Baxter of FL; brother, Daniel Forker of AR; sisters, Pearl (Richard) Allchin of FL, Alice (Raymond) Yoakum of NJ; and Melanie Veronica Oldfield of AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Peggy “Margaret Ann” Oler, brothers Robert Forker, William, Foker, and Paul Forker.
The family would like to thank DMH 4th floor staff, and extended care givers for all their loving care.
