I met Horst in 1965 at his garage off west Eldorado, we followed him 1st to north 22nd then to Dinene and then to Farries Parkway and watched as he enlarged it, received the Mercedes dealership. He left for awhile but came back and we found him off woodford it was a sad day when he retired. I last saw him stopped at the traffic light on Monroe and grand, we rolled down our windows and I asked him to please fix one of my cars. He pleasantly refused. Horst told me some of what happened in Germany after the war and his training with Mercedes , he helped a refugee from Hungary. I purchased several cars from him, all in all he represents to me the best of what it means to be an American.
