Huey D. Connour's Obituary
Decatur- Huey Dean Connour, 74, of Decatur passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital.
A service to celebrate the life of Huey will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church, 107 Newton Street, Heyworth, Illinois. Visitation will be 5-8:00 p.m. Friday at the church, Rev. Richard Gray and Rev. Spencer McPheron to officiate the service. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church or to the Piatt County Faith in Action.
Huey was born June 17, 1937 in Bloomington, Illinois the son of Miles and Mertie (Gastineau) Connour. Huey enjoyed life to it’s fullest. He worked in the Trucking industry all of his life, from terminal manager for Lovelace Truck Service, dispatcher and sales for Staley Express, and a account executive for Rudoff Express. Huey was a city slicker who moved to the country to raise his children. He loved horses, dogs, chickens, family, friends, and pick up trucks. He had to change his mode of transportation and a red and white 55 Chevy caught his eye and life changed. Car Shows became a big part of his retirement. Huey never knew a stranger and was loved by many. His never doubting faith in the Lord sustained him thru many trials, and gave him the strength to see tomorrow. He married the love of his life LaDella K Gerth on June 27, 1959 in Bloomington, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife, son; Scott (Kim) Connour of Mt. Zion, daughter’s; Deanne (Jim) Flaugher of Cerro Gordo, and Darla (Bill) Walsh of Monticello, grandchildren; Andrew Dugger, Clayton Connour, Dustin Walsh, Shaylee Walsh, and Benjamin Flaugher, brothers; Loren (Imelda) and Daniel both of Bloomington, sister; Charlene Rawlings of Bloomington.
Huey was greeted into Heaven by his parents, and one sister Darlene.
The family would like to invite all of Huey’s car club family to join in the procession from the church to interment at the cemetery.
