Ida Mae Sutton's Obituary
Ida Mae (Nichols) Sutton, 90, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family.
A service to celebrate the life of Ida Mae will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home with visitation Monday, July 24, 2023, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery, Mary Queen of Angels Mausoleum following the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Grace Methodist Church Bus Ministry.
Ida Mae was born March 14, 1933, in Pleasantville, New Jersey, the daughter of Horace and Martha (Ireland) Nichols. She graduated from Atlantic City High School in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Ida Mae married Ronald C. Sutton on December 1, 1951, and he preceded her in death in 2012. She was a homemaker, worked for Decatur Public Schools as a baker, and was self-employed, forming the company S&S Crafts. She was a member of Soy City Campers, National Campers & Hikers Association, Illinois State Campers Association, Kentucky Colonels, Grace Methodist Church, Tennessee Five, and a Girl Scout leader.
Ida is survived by her daughters Linda (Robert) Sattley of Mt. Zion, Barbara (Gary) Wood of Decatur, Debra Patterson of McMinnville, TN, and Sheryl Sutton of Mabank, TX; brother of New Jersey; sister-in-law DeEtta Minix of FL; brother-in-law Richard Minix; grandchildren Jonathon (Amy) Wood of Nashville, TN, Carrie Patterson of McMinnville, TN, Andrea (Tiffany) Patterson of Hopkinsville, KY, Lindsey Patterson of McMinnville, TN, Brittany (Tyler) Herriman of Rock Island, TN, Heather (Jarred) Johnson of Mt. Zion, Jeff (Genny) Sattley of Bethany, and Cory (Jessica) Sattley of Long Creek; great-grandchildren Logan, Ivan, Erin, Keana, Liyah, Bristol, Breelyn, MaKayla, Emma, Sebastian, Lillian, Constance, Tylee, Briley, and Taylan; step-great-grandchildren Waylon, Cody (Jordan), and Rachel; and step-great-great-grandchildren Keeley, Joshua, and Rosemary. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 4 sisters; 2 brothers; grandson Christopher Wood; brothers-in-law Leo Minix and Bob Minix; sisters-in-law LaVern Minix and Betty Harmon; and mother-in-law Gertrude Elizabeth Minix.
