Iola Marie Beck's Obituary
Iola Marie Beck, 96, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in New London, MO, surrounded by family.
She was born on July 23, 1928, in Macon County, IL, daughter of the late Phineas E. Moore and Donna Barnett Moore. She was a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School and a member of Summit Fellowship (formerly Summit Avenue Baptist Church).
Iola spent her life caring for others. She was not only a good homemaker, but she truly enjoyed doing it, always going out of her way to play with her children and make them feel loved. This extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she always cherished time with.
She was an excellent cook, running the Herrick Cafe for several years. Iola also enjoyed crocheting, playing Chinese Checkers, and beating her family at Scrabble.
in addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James G Beck, in 2007; three children, Rose Marie Beck, Jeffrey E. Beck, and James A. Beck; son-in-law, John Hand; and siblings, Samuel Moore, Earl Moore, and Rosella Butler.
Those surviving include: children, Ethel “Becky” Hand, Brenda Sue Henderson and husband Stan, Steven Beck and wife Becky, Michael Beck and wife Charlotte; sister, Donna K. White; twenty five grandchildren, more than forty great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Iola Beck will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Summit Fellowship, 1715 N. Summit Ave. Decatur, Illinois 62526. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM, with burial to follow in Graceland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Summit Avenue Fellowship of Decatur or to Community Loving Care Hospice of Bowling Green, Missouri.
