Iy'Air Amir Harris' Obituary
Iy'Air Amir Harris, beloved son of August Baker, was born in Decatur, IL, on April 8, 2026. He passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 0, Iy’Air was a fighter from the beginning. He always let people know when he didn’t like his treatments, learning how to make the perfect grumpy faces. Warm baths always made him feel better, followed by being held as much as he wanted and being given head rubs until he fell asleep. He loved his big sister, Iva’Nique Jones, who was always happy to help take care of him and ‘brush his teeth’. Every moment he spent with his family was a miracle, and every memory will be deeply cherished.
In addition to his mother and sister, he is survived by: great-grandmother, Debby; aunts, Amagine, Taryn, and Anzlie; godmother, Savannah; and godsiblings, Sa’Vayha,Ta’Rylin, and TJ.
Visitation for Iy’Air will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow in Lullaby Land at Fairlawn Cemetery.
