Jacina Kay Cookson's Obituary
Jacina Kay Cookson, 65, of Boody, Illinois, passed away September 1, 2025, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Jacina was born in Decatur on December 27, 1959, the daughter of Fredrick and Kay Dianne (Selzle) Dodson. She married Marvin “Scott” Cookson on September 6, 1999, in Boody, Illinois. She was a truck driver for various companies, the most recent of which was Brown Trucking. In her down time, she enjoyed Bingo, Scrabble, watching TV, and relaxing with her beloved dogs Snoopy and Izzy. She believed in God and loved her family.
Jacina is survived by her husband Marvin “Scott” Cookson; sons Davey (Jodi Wenger) Crawley Jr. of Decatur and Derek Cookson of Decatur; siblings Rick (Sherry) Dodson of Dalton City, Tony (Julie) Dodson of Decatur, Troy (Jill) Dodson of Hammond, Chad Dodson of TN, and Chassity Dodson of Decatur; grandchildren Danielle (Skyler) Daum, Dominic Giles, Calvin Crawley, and Theodore James Gaynor; great-granddaughter Nora Daum; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew Mitchell Dodson.
Visitation for Jacina will be from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday, September 9, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10am on Wednesday, September 10, also at the funeral home. Burial in Macon County Memorial Park will follow the service. Condolences may be shared with the family at https://www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
