Jack L. Buckley's Obituary
Decatur-Jack L. Buckley, 76, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 28, 1937 in Decatur the son of Henry S. and Lelah A. (Beals) Buckley. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from the Decatur Sanitary District. Jack was a member of Antioch Christian Church, Antioch Missions Committee, and Sta Rolling Camping Club. He enjoyed church activities, Missions work, Senior Saints in the Smokies, camping, fishing, doing ceramics, setting up in craft shows, and selling crafts. He married Patricia Starbody June 27, 1959.
He leaves behind his wife Patricia, brothers Jerry Buckley of Decatur, Johny (Dottie) Buckley of Tioga, LA, and Walter (Barbara) Buckley of Mattoon, sisters Vera Christianson of Puyallup, WA, Vivian Marie (Richard) Best of Retsil, WA, and Margaret Ball of Ball, LA, step-brother Klaus (Elaine) Thiess of Pineville, LA, and sisters-in-law Elizabeth Buckley of Decatur and Gloria Starbody (Jerome Bailey) of Decatur, special cousin Mark Overlin of Decatur, and special friends Joe, Becky, Caleb, and Mindy Luka of Decatur.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, stepmother Margarete Buckley, brothers Richard, Charles E., Don, and Glen James Buckley, and sisters Betty Galiano and Doris McMonagle.
Services to celebrate Jack's life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013 in Antioch Christian Church, 5409 E. US Rte 36, Decatur. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be directed to Antioch Christian Church.
