Jack Hollgarth's Obituary
Jackie Lee “Jack” Hollgarth, 72, of Macon, departed this life on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Jack was born on April 22, 1945 in Nashville, IL, the son of Joseph Dale Hollgarth and Margarette Elizabeth Turner. Jack served in the United States Army from 1964-1968, for which he achieved the rank of Sergeant. After returning from the service, he married Nancy Kay (Howard) McGuire on June 28, 1969. Throughout his life, Jack worked at Firestone Corporation, Borg Warner Corporation, Owens Oil, American Airlines Learning Center and finally he retired from P & G in Macon, Illinois after 20 dedicated years of service. Jacks after retirement hobbies included spending time with his growing family and any activity that kept him busy outside. One of the many outside activities that Jack enjoyed was lawn care. He upkept several lawns other than his own which include The First Baptist Church of Macon. The family found it to be an impossible task to keep Jack away from the lawn mower or power tools. He was not a man that liked to sit still, he was constantly on the move. It would be nothing for Jack to wake up and randomly start chopping down a tree that stands over one-hundred feet tall in the front yard or knocking down a few walls in the house. He was the jack of all trades and was always known to have a project or two going on.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Nancy of nearly 50 years, his children, John Reynolds of Hugh Spring, Texas, Tina Maddox (David) of Beaumont, Texas, Robert McGuire (Debra) of Macon, Illinois, Jack McGuire (Christina) of Decatur, Illinois, Mark Hollgarth of Macon , Illinois; Two brothers, Phillip and Charles Hollgarth both of Decatur, Illinois, 16 grandchildren; Brittany Hollgarth, Haley Hollgarth (Ryan), Kirstey Hollgarth, Gage Hollgarth, Christiian McGuire, Alex McGuire, Ashley (Adam) Mercer, Hollie Reynoldsm Misty (Tyler) Schmidt, Kelly Bright. The family would like to thank the staff of Decatur Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Jack and his family during this difficult time. The family will be hosting a private celebration of life service.
